Boosting Your Testosterone Level is the Best Way to Counter the Symptoms of Andropause

Andropause Treatment West Palm Beach FLIncreasing your testosterone level is the best way for men to treat the symptoms of andropause.

We all know that women go through menopause. But did you know that men go through a very similar condition known as andropause?

Like menopause, andropause is related to a drop in hormones as a man ages. But unlike menopause, which in women occurs at a set time in her life – after her last menstrual period — andropause is a response to the slow loss of testosterone that occurs as men grow older.

The symptoms of andropause, also known as low testosterone or hypogonadism, can occur really almost anytime after the age of 30. Symptoms of andropause include:

  • Erectile dysfunction and loss of libido
  • Loss of lean muscle
  • Weight gain, particularly belly fat
  • Lack of energy
  • Mood swings
  • Irritability, anxiety, and depression
  • Sleep issues
  • Memory loss and other cognitive issues

How Can I Boost My Testosterone to Prevent Andropause Symptoms?

There are basically three ways that you can try to boost your testosterone levels to stave off andropause symptoms: diet, exercise, and supplementation.

  • Diet – If you are looking to increase your testosterone, then it is best to focus on a diet that is full of proteins and healthy fats. Some of the best foods to include in your diet include eggs, low-fat milk, salmon, beans, oysters, and avocados

  • Exercise – Exercise, particularly intense exercise like weight lifting, strength training, or high-intensity interval training, is a known testosterone booster!

  • Supplements – There is a glut of products on the market that claim to be testosterone boosters with names like “Super Max,” “Testo-Fuel,” and the like. Most of these are just a bunch of hype. But there are some supplements that can help increase your testosterone.

Look for anything that contains Vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, DHEA, Vitamin B, Vitamin K, or D-Aspartic acid. Herbal supplements that have some evidence of boosting testosterone include ginseng, fenugreek, ginger, and Ashwagandha.

But even if you do all of the right things to increase your testosterone, it still may not be enough to alleviate all of the symptoms of andropause. In that case, you may be a candidate for testosterone replacement therapy.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Andropause

Here are some of the many benefits that hundreds of patients are experiencing, from testosterone replacement to treating andropause symptoms at our West Palm Beach, Florida-based hormone clinics right now.

A 2009 study concluded that “Restoring testosterone levels to within the normal range by using testosterone replacement therapy can improve many of the effects of [low testosterone]. Most importantly, these include beneficial effects on mood, energy levels, patients’ sense of well-being, sexual function, lean body mass, muscle strength, bone mineral density (BMD), cognition, and some benefits on cardiovascular risk factors.”

In addition, testosterone replacement therapy has been shown to provide:

  • Improved skin and hair health
  • Increased strength and vitality
  • Weight loss
  • Improved heart health
